Well, the economy isn't really that great right now - and hasn't been for a while. I used to be an astrophysicist, but with the rise of anti-intellectualism in this country recently there simply aren't enough jobs in the industry to go around. I held out as long as I could, but at the end of the day... I need to eat. [[...]] [[That's fascinating, tell me more]] [[I too, have an uninteresting occupation|FOO!]]

It's been a while since I've encountered someone this interested in my uniteresting occupation. It gives me a real sense of validation that maybe my life isn't a pointless collection of painful events strung together by perpetual, if foolish, hope! [[Mmmhmm]] [[Nice! Say, this burrito is far to big for me to complete myself. Would you like half?|That's ok. Here's a burrito]] [[It takes one to know one, new friend :-)|I see]]

The truth is, I'm not very adept at social interations. I often just repeat a few well-worn phrases that seem vaguely appropriate in a wide range of situations. I thought this was one such situation, and my canned response would be sufficient. I was wrong [[That's ok.
